Stabat Mater G. 532 – Boccherini

Undoubtedly, Boccherini composed this work under the influence of the most famous and popular eighteenth-century Stabat Mater, that of Pergolesi (an influence that even J. S. Bach had not been able to escape by making a personal version); but Boccherini transcends his model in style and form, composing a work in which, above all, his characteristic gallant style is present, as well as a greater elaboration and richness of interior voices along the lines of what was also being done in Central Europe, getting a wonderful Stabat Mater
